It takes a lot of time to process the file

Post by hector9 »

Hello, For me alldup alf is a great choice for movie collectors like me but lately the software is taking a lot of time to process the files.

I deleted 40 files with a capacity of nearly 70MB and in 3 minutes only completed 34%. It's much longer than before. I didn't install anything else, just deleted it. I am using Win 11 and SSD hard drive.

Does anyone have the same situation as me? Thank.

Maybe your virus scanner slows down the deletion process?

(While it still wouldn't make sense) are you deleting to $recycle.bin ?

In the File Manger dialog, are you logging file actions?

You say you are deleting 40 files, how many files in total were scanned?

Are you storing checksum data in the database?

What OS & version?

Maybe run a CHKDSK on your drive.

I believe this happens because of a combination of
1. Windows security real time protection ("windows defender"
2. AllDup option - Move local files to Windows Recycling Bin

It takes a 10 seconds or so to delete two files and I can see CPU activity for defender at the time. I disabled real time protection and processed the same two files and it was much faster*

What's odd is that it shouldn't be scanning image formats for the most part. I wonder if the method in which alldup moves files to the recycling bin triggers some heuristically alert causing additional scanning.
