zip format - path length limitation 260 chars

I still cannot use this software for professional archiving services due to antique zip format path length limitation of 260 chars.

This seems to me as a hole in required Allsync features,
and doing a small effort about adding modern compression format would amazingly increase its reliability and usability.

Please !

We are working on that problem. Its difficult to find a compress component for developers that support more than 260 chars. I hope we can add 7zip support for AllSync. This compression format support more than 260 chars (imho). Rar is not an option, because the developer of this compression format dont provide anything for developers. Only for unpack rar files.

Any suggestions from you about modern compression formats?

yes 7zip would be a wonderful choice

I justed tested win-7ZIP under severe conditions (compress NTFS folder: 50 000 files, folder size 20GB, paths over 260 chars, archive file size 13GB)

I got a perfectly working archive in less than 2 hours.
Archive opening takes a few seconds.
And it can be opened with winrar as well .

Hope you will be able to add this 7z format very soon !
