Email option when using a scheduled backup

win2k server
Allsync 2.2.18 business edition

I've tried to set up Allsync to email me when a backup routine is complete. In the scheduler's option I have checked the appropriate options and have successfully sent several test emails. However, when I log off the system and let the service take over, the email is not sent (though the backup runs fine).

I'm not sure why there is a Winsock error when the test emails are successfully sent. I've tried several different combinations in the email configuration to no avail. Any suggestions.

sorry, but i cant reproduce this error if i logged off and the scheduler service is started. (tested with WinXP and installed the service with the administrator account)

if u start your profile with the scheduler (as a normal application) and u dont run into any errors with sending emails or something else, then the only problem is that the account u use for the scheduler service havent enough system-rights to use winsock or something else thats nessesary for sending emails.

does the scheduler service send emails if u are logged into your account?

The account I'm using for the service has full administrator access.

I tested the scheduler and ran the test profile while logged into the account. The profile runs, but the email is not sent - the same error shows up:

thats not the problem, i've checked the source code for that.

i've checked the test email again with AllSync 2.2.19, but i only recieve one test email.


i think the problem is the email server u use for sending emails. can u try a other email server for testing?

I'm not sure if I understand what you're asking, but the same error occurs under these scenarios:
1. open scheduler and run the test profile manually (I am logged on as a user).
or
2. scheduler runs under the service (I am not logged in as a user).
or
3. the service is disabled and the scheduler is turned on while I'm logged on as a user (same as 1, except the service is turned off).

i've checked the test email again with AllSync 2.2.19, but i only recieve one test email.

i think the problem is the email server u use for sending emails. can u try a other email server for testing?
I've never had a problem with the mail server; unfortunately, it's the only mail server I have access to as well.

Oddly enough, I can not 100% of the time duplicate the 2 emails being sent out. Sometimes it is one, other times it is two.

I just received an email report from my Allsync detailing an error - though I'm not sure where I configured the application to send me an error report, nor why it sends me an error report, but not the copy report. Here's the error I just received:

Can you provide a screen shot of how you've configured your scheduler's email server settings? Or provide some suggestions/examples of what would be entered into the email setting's fields?

As I've previously mentioned, the test email is sent every time; even under several different configurations in the email settings option.

i have reproduced and fixed the bug with the duplicate emails. check the update to allsync version 2.2.20

Yes, 100% of the time.

I just received an email report from my Allsync detailing an error - though I'm not sure where I configured the application to send me an error report, nor why it sends me an error report, but not the copy report. Here's the error I just received:

Sure - I've sent it to the support email address.

OK - here's an odd one. The service ran a scheduled profile last night. 4 profiles are chained together - I recieved confirmation emails on the 2nd and 3rd profile, but the 1st and 4th (last) profile produced the winsock error. Here's the log:

there must be a problem with the network connection if the email cant be send everytime, or?

Good question. From the mail logs, it looks as if Allsync is closing down the socket/connection prematurely. I've not had any problems with the mail server in the past; it deals with thousands of emails a day. The mail server (Mdaemon) is located on the save server that Allsync is located, so there can not be a network connection problem.

I don't understand why it can successfully email some of the time and receive errors other times - especially during one operation such as a chained profile.

I really wouldn't know - this isn't my forte in the least. I just need to find out how to have the emails reliably sent. I'd hate to see this as an uresolved support request.

sorry, but u have to install and test allsync on a other computer to get the answer for the winsock problem.

Hi Michael,

I'm sorry, but I do not have another server to test with. This is an error that needs to be resolved using the resources on hand.

Something just doesn't seem right if the test emails are always sent, but the live emails are sent only some of the time.
