Running Allsync as a Service

Post by mtn_roadie »

win2k server
Allsync 2.2.18 business edition

I have been unable to set up the service tool to run scheduled backups. This is what I've done to date:

1. Installed the service tool per the help docs.
2. Registered the service under my user account.
3. Started the service.
4. Selected the option in the scheduler to run on startup.

The service/scheduler will work when I have the backup copy files to the same machine Allsync is installed on. However, I am unable to copy files to a drive on the network, unless I have the scheduler open when I'm logged into the system.

Here is a sample of the log - everything was run when I was logged into the system:

Code: Select all

This is what I'd like to achieve:
1. Have Allsync run my back up routines when I'm not logged into the system.
2. Have the files copied to a drive in the network.

I think I may be missing something quite obvious here, but I have been unable to solve this problem.

Thank You,

2. Registered the service under my user account.
user account = adminstrator

maybe the folder F: is only availble if the user is logged on. try using the real network path like \\computername\test at the profile properties.
3. Started the service.
4. Selected the option in the scheduler to run on startup.
if u autostart the scheduler as a service (3.) and as a normal program (4.) u may run into problems, because u start the scheduler twice.

please turn off autostart for the scheduler at the options.

Yes, user account is an administrator.

OK - that seems to work. I'm running some extended tests to ensure everything is functioning as expected.

Done (turned off the autostart). What is the purpose of having the scheduler autostart?

I'll post back when all the tests are complete.

Scheduled profile running without the service? ;-)

Thanks for the help. The service appears to be running smoothly now. I do have some questions about the email options that I'll post under a separate topic.
