I'm receiving errors often enough every day on several files and type (i.e. jpg, txt, zip, js) during the nightly back up to be a bit concerned.
1/9/2007 7:55:44 AM - ERROR: The content of files 'C:\<snip>\lang\en.js' and 'X:\<snip>\lang\en.js' is not identical.
When I do a file comparison, here is the result which shows the error:

Code: Select all

Original:
lang["DlgCellWordWrap"]		= "Word Wrap" ;
lang["DlgCellWordWrapNotSet"]	= "<Not set>" ;
lang["DlgCellWordWrapYes"]		= "Yes" ;
lang["DlgCellWordWrapNo"]		= "No" ;
lang["DlgCellHorAlign"]		= "Horizontal Alignment" ;

Backup:
lang["DlgCellWordWrap"]		= "Word Wrap" ;
la\
lang["DlgCellWordWrapNo"]		= "No" ;
lang["DlgCellHorAlign"]		= "Horizontal Alignment" ;

For reference, here is a sample of the visual file comparison that shows the error in the above example:

Any ideas what may be causing these errors?

This problem points to a hardware failure of the network connection or the destination hardware.
