Request: Combine audio length paramater with filename (number of characters at beginning)

Hi, I've just been using this program, and wondered if it would be possible to contruct a search combining:-

1) Find Video & Audio files on the basis of their audio length.

&

2) Find duplicate files on the basis of their properties/ (compare only characters at the beinning of a filename)

Perhaps also a description of what the different mechanisms are (Smartmatch, Fuzzymatch, etc)

I'm trying to identify similar video files, which have a very similar filename (but may be just 1 or 2 characters out). Perhaps a regex search?

Also, when selecting a search result, it plays the video in the preview area. Could it be made to display a thumbnail of the video (from windows thumbnail cache) instead? Even perhaps displaying multiple thumbnails in the preview area if multiple search results are selected?

That way, I could select multiple videos from the search results, and differentiate by looking at the thumbnails.
Windows explorer allows this in previews, but does not search for Duplicates as your program does. Also FIlelocatorPro does this , but again, does not search for duplicates as your program does.

TIA.

Looks like you can do OR, but not AND.

Length, I would suspect deals with the Length that Windows sees, rather then (the possibility) of audio & video having different lengths within a single file (which can & does happen), if that is what you are after.

So AllDup can do 1 OR 2, but not AND.
And AllDup can also display (in a "Preview" window [& presumably assuming WMP can play said file]), or it can simply open said A/V files (by double clicking them), but does not do thumbnails.

Everything 1.5 Alpha should be able to help, I'd think.
I'll search for videos. And it can do Lengths too. And rather then its thumbnails, I tend to open said found videos in IrfanView - in its' thumbnail mode. So I typically find with Everything, then do the thumbnail part in IrfanView (or simply "preview" any videos by opening directly in my media player itself).

Thanks for the info, i did have a look at that program, but the interface is too complex. From a brief look through it, I dont think it will do what Iwant.

I thought a search for 'Video Duration' (which can be derived from audio length via windows or FFMPEG) PLUS "only match files whose first few letters are the same" would be easy, but I can't find a utility to do it. Perfect way to find duplicates no?

AllDUP almost does it.Its has " Search Method / Find video & audio files based on the audio length"
then
"Compare only files with the same properties"
"File name"
"File extension"

..almost there.

Unfortunately, selecting the whole filename as a match is too restrictive. If it had another box as in the "Find similar file names" to limit the search mask to the first few characters, then it would only be returning the files with the same length, but similar names. Perfect.

At the moment when I do the audio length search, i'm getting 1000 results from 2000 files! And if I tick the "Fille name" box, I get Zero results!

Thanks for your time anyway, maybe the author will take a look at some point.

So I found a program that does what I want.

"Duplicate Cleaner pro 5".

Unfortunately the free version is limited to 6 days, then they want £41!

What a greedy world.
