0-byte files

Post by therube »

Content compare & 0-byte files

appears to not take into consideration 0-byte files ?

-> Correct. 0-byte files are simply ignored.
(& only size dup'd files >0 are hashed, as one would expect)

maybe that's best, in some cases,
but there should be an option to include or not

as it is, i ran a compare, expecting everything to compare,
which it did,
with the intent to,
Move files to a folder

& while that worked just fine,
what it did not do was to move the 0-byte files to the new location

& with that, my relocated tree no longer compared to the source tree

likewise, while what was left of the moved tree was 0-bytes in total,
going by that, one is apt to assume that it was only directory entries,
but in reality there were also files left behind,
they just so happened to be 0-bytes

(there would be no reason to actually compute/store any hash for a
0-byte file, as they will always Content compare ;-))

ah, during the scan:
Files filtered: 43
& that is precisely correct,
no Filters are set, but there are a total of 43 0-byte files

With the next update the 0-files will be listed at the search result.

UPD: Search method 'File content': Files with 0 bytes are now shown in the search result if the file filter 'Ignore files with 0 bytes' is disabled.
