ERROR: The source folder ....... (#5 - Access is denied)

Post by dar »

I was trying to copy files using the Scheduler from a mapped drive L: to a local drive and got the error:
"6/26/2005 11:32:14 AM - ERROR: The source folder 'L:\Files' couldn't be found: (#3 - The system cannot find the path specified.)"

After reading this on the forum; "maybe the folder F: is only availble if the user is logged on. try using the real network path like \\computername\test at the profile properties. " in
http://allsync.biz/phpBB2/viewtopic.php ... rce+folder, I tried using the IP address of the mapped machine. Now I get this error.

6/26/2005 5:00:00 PM - PROFILE: L:\Files to D:\Files
6/26/2005 5:00:00 PM - COPY MODE: 1:1 copy
6/26/2005 5:00:00 PM - --------------------------------------------------
6/26/2005 5:00:00 PM - ERROR: The source folder '\\10.100.99.100\D$\Files' couldn't be found: (#5 - Access is denied.)
6/26/2005 5:00:00 PM - Info: D:\ 50.55 GB free disk space
6/26/2005 5:00:00 PM - --------------------------------------------------
6/26/2005 5:00:00 PM - PROFILE STATISTICS:
6/26/2005 5:00:00 PM - Elapsed time: 0:00:00
6/26/2005 5:00:00 PM - No changes have been made.
6/26/2005 5:00:00 PM - --------------------------------------------------

I need the Scheduler to run AllSync because this is a remote server. Also, I was having problems getting the Scheduler Service to run, but now it is okay.

Problem Solved

The AllSync Service Tool did not set up the service properly as it did not install the service using the specified user name and pw.. The service was installed as a System account which did not permit access to network drives.

To remedy this, go into Services directly via Windows Administrative Tools, and set the Service up using the SAME account which was used to install AllSync

Note Bene: Make sure that account has full admin privileges. If not, uninstall and reinstall AllSync with an account that has proper privileges.
