Delete repeating VIDEO frames

Post by abrimaal »

There are 10000 video frames in .bmp (lossless) -
Many of them are 100% identical, compared byte by byte.
(the video was converted by someone from low framerate to high - from about 5fps to 25fps).

I want to delete all duplicates from the same group except the first frame.
On the example screenshot - frames 0000, 0006, 0010, 0017 ... will remain, other deleted.

Can I do this in AllDup? What should I select?
to
Delete all in the group except the first file
or
Move the first in the group to another folder

compared byte by byte
Appears that in fact, you have done a Similar Pictures compare, with aHash (99%)?

Anyhow, assuming the files are in fact (byte) identical, & assuming that within each group the files are display in alphabetical order (I am NOT sure if that is the case or not?) then Select, Select all files except the first file, should do what you want, I'm thinking.

Review the scan results & confirm that the files within each group are listed alphabetically.

1. Sort all groups by clicking on the header of the first column.
2. Make sure the sort is A-Z and not Z-A.
3. use the select command 'Select all files except the first file'
4. open the file manager to delete the selected files

First I compared file content byte by byte, but comparing 10000 similar files took too long. After a few hours I stopped.
I used similar pictures compare. 99% because the video was compressed and the frames could differ a little after compression.
Finally I used 100% and it deleted about 8000 frames that is a perfect result.
