Run Time problem in XP systems

Post by dorcom »

Run Time Problem in XP systems.

AllDup stopped working on XP systems.
Re-install yields no solution.

Error message (after activating a search):

"Run Time Error '-214731979 (8002801d)':
Automation error
Library not registered.

Any clues?

(Works on my end.)

What SP level of XP?
32 or 64-bit XP?
Or anything else odd, including are you running that "update" hack?

What version of AllDup?
AllDup stopped working on XP systems.
So it had been running before?
And what changes occurred on your system?

XPSP3
32bit
update hack off
V 3.04.0024 of AllDup

After restart all Filters are gone e.g. *.Doc, *.PDF, *.JPG

Perhaps a clue, when looking in the log file I find this entry:
7/3/2016 10:14:56 AM - INFO: 743 - Unable to create or activate a new instance of 'WMPlayer.OCX.7'.

It was a problem with the Windows Media Player!
The latter would not start.
This for some reason caused AllDup to crash with aforementioned error message.

Downloaded a WMP fix (http://www.thewindowsclub.com/downloading-fix-wmp)
All is well! :D
