Create/Modified dates not transferred

I am using copy method "C" to archive files. (i.e. Move them, not copy them)
Although the settings for method C indicate that the create and modified date should be copied as well, this is not happening for me. Is this because I am moving the files, rather than copying them? Note also that the checkbox to "Transfer file date and time after copying" is grayed out/not selectable.
