File Protection Toggle not working

Post by M_Barz »

I've tried to change the protection mode with the Drop down in the File Protection mode, but it will not change the protection designation to let me delete the selected files. I have tried it with the check mark AND without the check mark. How do I fix this?

The checkmark indicates that the file protection is ON.
Remove the checkmark to turn OFF the file protection for a source folder.
With the next update a lock icon will be shown instead of the checkmark.

Thanks for the reply. However, I have already tried it with the check mark removed. This was stated in my prior post. How do I get the file protection to stop protecting files so I can delete them? Again, I've already turned it off.

We cant reproduce this problem here with AllDup v4.5.26. What AllDup version do you use?

Can you delete files in the search result without using the file manager?

Please try the follwing steps:

1. deactivate the file protection for all source folders
2. save the search result
3. exit AllDup
4. restart AllDup
5. load the search result

Does this help?

Unfortunately saving exiting and restarting did not work.

I'm wondering if it has to do with the "Main" search file and the "sub-files". I searched the main file and all sub-files. It seams like it deleted the pictures in the main file, but won't delete in the sub-files. If that's the case, is there a way to "un-protect" the sub-files post search? When in the File Protection pull down, I only get the main folder listed (per the attached pic). So I can't un-protect anything but the main file.

Thoughts?

I've run another search and this time, from the beginning added the other files to be able to select/deselect as protected. per the attached pic, you can see the pathway of the picture is the same as the pathway that shows a fold that is unprotected, yet it will not delete the file. I've also attached the log.

Any help to trouble shoot this would be appreciated.

Protecting or unprotecting a source folder includes all files in the sub-folders too.
There is no need to add all sub-folders of the source folder to the source folder list.

Can you please save the search result and email it to me?
The two files shoud be named {search result}.asr4a and {search result}.ini4a and the files are stored in the sub-folder "data" in AllDup's application data folder. See options for the folder path.
Maybe i can reproduce the problem with your search result.
