reference files

Post by MrNeilen »

I have recently taken notice that there is always 1 file that has a different color to the rest of the duplicates in every group. According to my color filter option, which is under Menubar->Options->colors, this color stands for that it is a reference file. Since I am fully not sure what that means in relations to files, but I can only think it describes "who does this file belong to", such as letter.docx belongs to a Microsoft Word document. If this is true, looks like this means that if the reference file gets deleted, then the rest of the same files will not be able to open anymore. Is that correct?
If so, how can I exclude those files from not being deleted by accident.

No. The reference file ist just a normal file that can be deleted.

AllDup is always comparing against the reference file of a group when running a search for the file content, similar pictures or similar music.
All other files from the group are duplicates of the reference file.
