Search for duplicates between two directories?
Search for duplicates between two directories?
Is it possible to search for duplicates only between two directories; e.g. Dir1 vs Dir 2 but not within each directory?

Yes, this is possible. Check the options below the source folder list.

Was this removed in 3.9.1b, as I'm no longer seeing it?Yes, this is possible. Check the options below the source folder list.
XP, 391b Portable.
Guess I should state, that the second line, shows, "Disable windows 64bit file system redirection" (& this is on an x86 system).
Re: Search for duplicates between two directories?
You better mention that you use the beta version!.
A somewhat similar feature is now in the search result. the 3rd entry in "remove" will remove groups wehere not all source paths have a duplicate. That is not exactly the same, but if you compare 2 paths only, it is equivalent.

Re: Search for duplicates between two directories?
The next update ( after 4.0.8 ) will have a new search method for the source folders.
The following options will be available to search for duplicates between multiple source folders:
- Compare files from all source folders
- Compare only files within the same source folder
- Compare only files between different source folders

Re: Search for duplicates between two directories?
Ah, thanks for that.
Yesterday - but I ran out of time, I was going to create a new thread, something along the lines of...
Compare only files within the same source folder
vs
Remove all groups where the files do not exist in all source folders
And I was going to read through existing related threads
And I was thinking, the former (within same source folder) didn't really make sense as you can do that simply by checking, or not, particular trees to scan
And I was thinking, what I would expect most would want would be the latter (between different source folders) - but where the file determination was performed before the actual scan rather then after
Now I don't have to, thanks .
