1st time user. 2,663 files not included in SEARCH

Post by dc-3 »

My project includes:
Groups: 4,263
Files: 13,923 reviewed
Total Files: 16,586

The files accessible to review stopped at 13,923. Everything had gone smoothly to that point.
* What might have caused the remaining 2,663 files to be MIA?
* Is there a limit on the length of a file name? Number of characters? Etc. If so, what do I do now to complete the de-dup??
* The files in AllDup include "backed up files" [thus the volume] because I didn't want to take any chances of losing something.

These files are the result of 11 years research on an all-Veterans, cargo & passenger, non-scheduled airline my Dad founded in 1945 in the US.

Will appreciate any input. Thanks very much.

Any File/Folder Filtering going on?
Or your particular Search Method is not expected to find all files?

And actually...

That particular dialog, is that not going to be the number of files that are Selected?

There are, 16586 files total that were found, that met your search criteria,
& of that you have selected (checkmarked) 13923 of them (for deletion, or whatever).

Thanks very for the reply.

My Master Folder containing all my research data in Subfolders and Files was what I set up in AllDup to be Filtered "just" for Dups.

I understood , as you said, that the "search criteria" resulted in 16,586 duplicate files (out of I don't know how many total files are in my Master Folder). It's the 13,923 that confused me. You're explaining that I have selected (checkmarked) 13,923 of the 16,586 for Recycle Bin. So that means that 2,663 files will remain as the Search Results with no duplicates after all groups are processed? Is that correct?

I confused myself by forgetting about the 1,000+ additional research files in the Master Folder that have no duplicates. DAH! :P

If I'm not breaking protocol, may I ask three more questions - about this form below?
1) Is the Backup Folder automatically created keeping my folder structure?
2) Would you recommend deleting all empty folders (after move or deletion)?
3) Would you recommend any different items selected or not?

Again thanks.
