... i have discovered that AllDup does NOT close properly, and leaves a background process for every session you start, so for example, right now, even though AllDup is actually CLOSED, Task manager shows SIX AllDup bg sessions running.

Open AD.
Run a scan.
Quit.

See if you can come up with a repeatable situation where Quitting hangs?
And if so, particular settings you are using?
Or even now, particular settings you are apt to use more regularly then others?
(And like the other thread, are you dealing with file "meta-data"?)

no open sessions when i open or when i run a search
actually, thinking, what these session artefacts are are what is left when i get these sessions that just close themselves
yep, that is what they are.
so the root of this problem is what is causing these sessions to simply close in the 1st place?
