AllDup icon displayed in Alt+TAB differs depending...

Post by therube »

AllDup icon displayed in Alt+TAB differs depending on how you go about things
& where you may happen to be, in program operation.

That makes it more difficult to associate something you're "seeing" in Alt+TAB
with the program.

(Granted, there is a textual 'Title' displayed, but one is not apt to "see"
that when they're keyed on finding a particular icon.)

(Win7, & my Alt+TAB displays icons rather then "windows".)

open AllDup
- at that point, the Alt+Tab icon is the 'white on blue'
run a scan
- at that point, the Alt+Tab icon is the 'white on blue'
return back to the main screen
- at that point, the Alt+Tab icon is the 'white on blue'

now...

run the same scan, i.e. hit 'Start Search'
this time remove the duplicates

File Manager 'log window' displays the results of your removal
- at that point, both the Windows taskbar & the Alt+Tab icons are 'white double sheets of paper' (or whatever)
also,
- at that point the regular white on blue taskbar icon is simply gone, replaced by the 'white double sheets'...
& that in itself is confusing enough (to me)

hit Close (on the File Manager screen)

return goes back to the 'Search Result' screen
- at that point, the Windows taskbar icon has returned to normal
but,
- the Alt+Tab icon is still the 'white double sheets of paper'

close the 'Search Results' screen
return goes back to the "main screen" (Source Folders, Search Method, ...)
- the Windows taskbar icon is still the normal white on blue
but,
- the Alt+Tab icon is still the 'white double sheets of paper'

IMO, changing the icon depending on what particular part of program operation you may happend to be in,
much less when it changes depending on how you happened to go about things, only leads to confusion &
makes it more difficult to associate an icon with a particular program.

The 'white double sheets of paper' is the icon of the file manager window.
I can't reproduce this here.
After closing the file manager the Alt+Tab icon is the standard AllDup icon again.

Most likely, this is a Win7 bug, when "aero" is disabled: Windows 7 and the old AltTabSettings=1 setting.
