Adding white stripes around the edges of the image makes it look very different from the original image

Post by Klaudia »

Quite often when stealing images, white space is added along two or four sides to make it difficult to find similar images. And given the way Alldup works, this method works. Unfortunately. Could the developer consider adding a setting to the application: when analyzing compared images, crop the white space along each of the four sides, and only then apply the settings "Detect picture modifications (slower)"?

I've seen some similar functionality in the Crop Pages tool of the PDF-XChange Editor Plus app:
Set to White Margins.png

We have no problems here to find similar pictures with white/black frames using the comparison methods aHash, dHash or pHash.

80% match is a lot for images that are identical, apart from stripes. At me already at 90 percent coincidence images of absolutely different goods are displayed. In a situation where there are about a hundred thousand images of an identical composition (an object in the center on a white background), setting it to 80% will display almost all of the images compared.
