AllDup can now use up to 4 GB of RAM

Just to note that is now included as of the 4.5.56 release.

I think I figured out what you did wrong ;-). (What you did not do in order to see the issue.) If you iterate down the Results list - but have not 'Expand all groups', then as you go down, you are going from Group to Group to Group... From what I could make of it, it was more the Group, itself, rather then the items in the group.
So if you're arrow-keying down a long list (like in the OP it was, Sb3: Groups: 561, & over time or not, you might be more apt to see this.

Anyhow.

I do see that AllDup is still using 20-30% processor power while in that state. Could it be that it's actually calculating something? Certainly possible. Though for it to still be happening, overnight, I'd think to be odd - but you never know. Tell us about your scan (settings, number of files...)....

On a different computer, MUCH less going on, with a far lessor set of data to work with, with some oomph, I was able to get GDI up to ~5000 (1/2 of max) (& on startup [also, like above] ~1000 GDI handles).
