Re: One gold/yellow line in the middle of all black.....

He calls that the "reference file". And for similar picture / similar audio searches, that is the file that is "designated" as 100%, & as such, upon which other files are percentage (%) matched against. That said, I don't know that there is a particular meaning to which file ...

Re: Preview Window, Info Viewer, may fail to display expected data

(i can't believe it [again, no less] !!!) it does happen with "4559-291223". it looks like it does not happen with 4558. (but, i could have sworn i did test with 4558? as it is, i do have both versions .exe in a single directory all for the purpose of renaming 1 or the other to alldupporta...

Preview Window, Info Viewer, may fail to display expected data

Preview Window, Info Viewer, may fail to display expected data There are situations where (at least) Info Viewer / EXIF / Media Info (Plugin) go to a "busy" state, & where further actions with said plugins, fail. new instance (so no pre-existing config4.ini) open AllDup add a directory...

Re: Picture Search, thumbnails named as .png

They are named *.png because the thumbnails are created and saved as png picture files. That is fine - if they were, but they're not. AFAICT, they are .bmp. From a set of AllDup ("temporary") generated ".png" (thumbnail) files (plus a separate .png thrown in for good measure [fo...

Re: Picture Search, thumbnails named as .png

When you do an Search Image When File Preview is enabled When you scroll down the list of duplicates As you come to each duplicate group Thumbnails are generated (in a place like \temp\GUID...) Said thumbnails are named *.png But are actually (physically) .bmp files (not .png files) IOW, the file ex...

Re: Select by date treats every file as newer than now

Test this data selection (attached). There are a set of files dated "today" (1-8-2024, as it is, here, now). (If running on a different day, set those particular files to current date.) Search by Content Select by Date, Newer then, 2 days (sort by Last Modified Date will help you to see wh...

Picture Search, thumbnails named as .png

Picture Search, thumbnails named as .png

When you do a Picture search, thumbnails as named as *.png.
But in fact the output thumbs (the actual files) are *.bmp.

Is there a particular reason for that?
(I only ask because some softwares notify you of such discrepancies.)

Re: Select by date treats every file as newer than now

Something weird does look to be going on. start with all same dated files (say current date) see if Date, Newer then, 2 days does not in fact select all files (when theoretically none should be selected) likewise, oddities with Older then now change dates of some of the files in my case, some are cu...

Re: [Invalid] Image Dup Not Found, sometimes

AH!!! LOL, call me stupid, stupid!!! everything i said is correct EXCEPT for the little old fact that i did NOT search the particular directory (tree), T:/YYY/... - my search was within T:\PICS while said files & directories do exist, i did not include the T:\YYY\ directory tree in my search heh...

Figures ;-). It happened again, once. mentioned "slow" before (in relation to slow access), & again /perhaps/ that plays in? maybe... after drive has gone asleep (HDD, so platters), it seems to me ? that even after awakening... (& i'm just talking out my butt here), maybe not all t...

Re: Image Dup Not Found, sometimes

I'll have to see if I still have that information.

All 3 were in different directories, all on the same drive.
I don't think there was common directory heritage (at least lower tree level).

[Invalid] Image Dup Not Found, sometimes

Image Dup Not Found, sometimes It seems that sometimes not all the duplicates of a file are "found". (I'm starting with a saved Search Results but I don't see where that should have any bearing.) I've not been successful in trying to duplicate said failure by copying said files elsewhere &...

Re: Slow hash-based duplicate detection

From what I can make of things, it is more the number of files rather then anything to do with "multithreading".
