Re: File permission errors in newer versions
On a related note, I am fully aware of your policy of not making earlier versions of AllDup available, to avoid having to discuss them. And I can fully sympathize with it. However, in this case, it needs to be said, that it was definitely very unhelpful for me in trying to focus in on the version of...

Re: File permission errors in newer versions
Basically, I replace all duplicate files larger than 500KB with hardlinks on offline Windows installations, with a few manual exceptions (e.g. Avast anti-virus files). This usually frees up 4-5GB of drive space on a previously untreated Windows 7 partition. Trying to do this with AllDup 4.4.34 was b...

Re: File permission errors in newer versions
I was unable to get the job done with v. 4.4.34 after hours of fiddling, thus went back to v. 4.2 and completed it in 10 seconds.

File permission errors in newer versions
Hi Michael, Long time AllDup user here. Thank you for this wonderful piece of software! I have used AllDup to slim down Windows system partitions by hardlinking duplicate system files regularly for many years. I would always do his on an offline Windows installation, booting form another partition/s...

Re: AllDup does not work in WinPE
Thanks a lot for the quick response. Fortunately - but embarrassingly for me - this has since turned out to be a false alarm. AllDup works perfectly in my WinPe with IE8 integrated after all. It seems that there was something in the configuration files that caused the crash initially. I had copied p...

Re: AllDup does not work in WinPE
On 2nd try, I created a less compact WinPE_SE (still Win7 PE x64), with more features, with IE 8 integrated. Unfortunately, I get a crash again, at the very same spot, right after starting the search for dups, but this time the error message is different: ============================================...

AllDup does not work in WinPE
AllDup is a great piece of software, thank you for creating and maintaining it! My only issue is that I have been unable to make it work under WindowsPE environment. This is very sad, it is really best/safest using such a utility *offline*, running it under a separate OS, off a USB stick. Doubtless,...
